사막이다. 선인장이 크고 많으니
이곳은 사막이다.
내가 사막을 꿈꾸고 사막을 바라니
이곳은 사막이다.
바람이 분다. 뜨겁고 강한 바람이다.
내게만 부는 이 바람은 나를 실어
사막의 경계로, 그 떨어지는 절벽으로 나를 안내한다.
난
그 곳인 이곳에서
질문자인 나에게
짧은 시험을
당한다.
"당신은 충분히 지키고 있습니까?
당신은 충분히 살아 있습니까?
당신은 충분히 촉촉합니까?"
난 하나도 대답하지 못하고
시험을 통과하여
다시 내가 되었다.
_이성수는 서울대학교 조소과를 졸업했다. 2003년부터 국내외에서 다수의 개인전을 열었고 그룹 전과 아트페어에 참가했다. 그의 작품에는 사람이 있고, 환상이 있고, 웃음이 있고, 공기가 있고, 바다가 있으며 그 안에 너와 내가 있다. 환경, 동물, 사람이 존재하고 융합되는 그의 이미지는 때로는 부드럽게 따뜻한 시선으로 때로는 지독하게 차가운 얼굴로 다가와 세상의 무엇을 이야기한다.

It"s the desert. With so many big cacti,
this must be the desert.
I dream of and long for the desert,
so this must be the desert.
The wind is blowing. It is hot and strong.
This wind of my own grabs me,
then guides me to the end of the desert, the edge of the cliff.
And I
From here, which is there,
put myself
to a simple test.
"Have you protected enough?
Have you lived enough?
Have you been moist enough?"
Without answering any of the questions
I pass the test.
I am myself again.
_Lee Sung-soo received his degree from Seoul National University. Since 2003, he has participated in numerous private and group exhibitions and art fairs. His work embraces people, fantasy, laughter, the atmosphere, and the sea. It has you and me. By blending the nature, humans, and other living creatures, his images sometimes approach us with warmth or brutally cold reality. He is currently showing works under the theme of “milk priority.”
